Fantastic blog. I enjoyed reading it and seeing all the puggy pics. So adorable! There should be a national pug blog or community for just pug people…maybe there is, I don’t know.

I am obsessed with my pug. Aliousious Thor Lovings is a 9 year old, sleek black pug with a muscular Terrell Owens like physique and Clooney-esque graying beard and eyebrows. Ali, as he is known, likes to luxuriate around the house, only bothering to rise when the Animal channel is on or when food is in the open. Ali is a rambunctious, sneaky, manipulative love busket that has been known to break into the refrigerator, toilet paper his mom’s apartment and eat inedible objects. I had poison control on speed dial and he was on a first name basis with the emergency vet when he was a puppy. Ali has become more clever in his ways, preferring to sunbathe indoors as a decoy, hoping some smchuck will leave food out. He enjoys “faking” sleepiness, hoping you’ll forget and leave food out. The moment you leave the room, BAM!, he attacks his prey…usually leftovers. On one occassion, he climbed on a couch next to a table, next to another table, next to the kitchen counter, climbed on the counter and ate about a pound of garlic broccoli. His gas on this occassion can only be described as legendarily horrific. He has also absconded with an entire round of sourdough bread while at a dinner party. It took a team of people to chase him around, while he hid under furniture. He is well travelled, having flown cross country many times, travelled by subway, metro train, bus, and car. Ali does not respond to normal animal commands, instead, he responds to one word: “Beef.”

Attached are pictures of my baby and his brother Falcor Theodore Lovings, called Teddy, who is goodness knows how old. He is an odd, silly Pekingese rescue that loves to pounce on Ali once he crawls under a blanket. Teddy once stole a rack of beef ribs from a child. He proceeded to slobber on that same rack of ribs for hours, growling at anyone within a 2 foot radius, eventually hiding beneath a couch cushion until he devoured all. Years later, he remains exhausted from the experience and now prefers to be hand fed. He is obsessed with socks and will rip them off your feet if you remove your shoes around him. Once that happens, he will lay on that sock growling. Best to leave your shoes on, as a sock is rarely recovered once he gets his paws on it. You have to throw another sock across the room, to distract him.

Anywhoo…love all things pug and dog. Great blog. I’m bizzare, small wonder my dogs are so strange!
